REFLEXOLOGY

What is Refloxogy and How Can It Benefit YOU?

Reflexology  is defined as a non-evasive holistic and safe form of healing by way of a firm, gentle massage of the feet.  As reflexes on the feet (See Reflexology foot chart below) are massaged, physical tension is eased. Having your feet massaged can provide instant relief when you are feeling stressed, along with a number of other health benefits.

Reflexology Chart

Reflexology combats fatigue, exhaustion, soothes nerves and alleviates stress.  Reflexology is one of the great forms of personal massage effectively promoting stress reduction and stress relief.  It reduces inner tension and eases pain and discomfort in the body. Reflexology is a pleasant yet powerful form of deep relaxation with many health benefits as it helps to cleanse the body of negative thoughts, emotions and toxins.

After experiencing reflexology, a state of inner peace is usually experienced, offering much needed respite from the chaos that every day life has to offer. Regular reflexology treatments helps keep you feeling rejuvenated and re-energized.  Combining reflexology with a hot stone massage increases its effectiveness.

How is Refloxogy Performed?

There are various Reflexology massage techniques.  Listed below are the 4 main techniques of Reflexology that offer the best results for relaxation and stress relief:

Rotation - Gently applying slight press onto the reflex, hold for a few, then slowly release (a delightfuly, tingly feeling may be experienced). Without removing your finger from the reflex area, gently rotate it on that reflex area.

Caterpillar -  Place the tip of your thumb on the reflex area then slowly lower thumb on to pad of thumb, jerking it slightly forward.  Then raise thumb back to tip and repeat the up and down rocking motion, gradually moving forward.

Stroking - After the rotation and caterpillar movements, place both thumbs over skin's surface and make long sweeps over the reflexes while applying slight pressure.  Do so as if you are trying to squeeze ointment out of a tube.  This method helps soothe emotions, thereby relieving stress.

Caressing - This is the final movement. Lightly stroke the skin by alternating your fingers in a scooping motion

Ancient Reflexology

Ancient forms of reflexology teach that this artform increases energy and improves spiritual well being.  In this writing I've only covered the physical and emotional benefits of reflexology.  It is my belief that only God and His Word can improve the spiritual condition of a person.

Physical Benefits of Reflexology and Massage

The physical benefits of reflexology and massage in general are very rewarding.  Personal massage helps to to foster a peaceful, relaxation experience.  Massaging tense parts of the feet help to relieve stress and to "mash" out potentially harmful toxins.

In addition to the reflexology, it's beneficial to massage or stretch other areas of the body such as the legs, neck, and back. See: Neck Traction Device, and Suction Cupping Set.
