Stress affects different people in different ways.  The level of stress a person is under also contributes to actions and reactions.  Extreme cases of stress such as resulting from the sudden death of a loved one, may cause irrational behaviors leading to suicide.  It is a very serious matter.  When a person begins showing intense stress symptoms and deep depression take notice.

If someone you knows appears to be upset all of the time or frequently distant, try to reach out to that person.  Be careful not to come off  "preachy" or appear judgemental.  Engage that person in serious direct conversation.  You may have no idea what they are going through.  If you even suspect for a moment that there's a threat of suicide, seek immediate help on that person's behalf.  You can reach a crisis center at 800-suicide.  More information on suicide can be found at the Suicide Prevention Advocacy Network
