What is Aromatherapy or Aroma Therapy?
Aroma therapy is the utilization of essential oils to provide a level of relexation that promotes a balance of harmony in the spirit, soul and body. An ancient practice from the Middle East and Asia, aromatherapy is not a new phenomena.
What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are a class of volatile oils, extracted from plants, fruits, or flowers, having each its characteristic odor, and hot burning taste. They are used in essences, perfumery, aroma therapy, and include many varieties of compounds. The scent derived from these oils can be euphoric.
How do Essential Oils work?
Through your sense of smell, the scent from the oils may trigger emotions, memories and even physical reactions such as increased heart rate and body temperature. These therapeutic oils can be applied externally to the skin when properly diluted and the properties of the oils are also known to be medicinal in many cases (ex: anti-inflammatory). The use of a Diffuser aids in the release of the scent from the essential oils into the air.
