10 Simple Tips for Relieving Stress
Stress is an occassional part of life for some and a regular part of life for others. It's not healthy to experience stress on a regular basis or for extended periods of time. There are many sources of stress: Work Pressure, Family Difficulties, Lack of Finances, Bills that you can't pay etc. Sometimes you can easily relieve stress. At other times, things are out of your control. When you can't control certain situations, the best thing to do is manage them so that they are not overwhelming or remove yourself from the situation if possible. Why stress or worry over something that you can't control?
Below are some ten simple tips for relieving stress:
- Exercise (gets your blood circulating and relieves tension)
- Lifting Weights, cardiovascular work (i.e. playing ball)
- Praying (God can certainly help you with things you can't do yourself)
- Taking a warm shower
- Laughing (ex: Watching a comedy). "A merry heart does good like medicine" Proverbs 17:22
- Getting a massage (Try one of our personal massagers also good for muscle pain relief)
- Listen to some soothing music
- Aromatherapy (Inhaling pleasant scents helps to relax your mood and promote calmness)
- Take deep breaths and count backwards from 10 (Temporarily takes your mind off of your problems and helps to refocus & regroup)
- Talk about your problems with a trusted person. The operative word being TRUST. You certainly don't want to talk about your problems and issues with someone who will spread them like a prostitue spreads her legs. (Relax! It's meant to make you laugh and relieve some stress which you probably need if you are reading this article)
- Journaling (Sit and write out your thoughts and feelings. Never keep your emotions bottled up. Writing helps to constructively release your emotions, especially if you don't feel you can talk to someone)
