Back Pain Remedies That Don't Include Surgery
© Michelle Howard Smith - All Rights Reserved Back pain can become so excruciating that it's quickly labeled as one of the worst types of pain to experience, especially lower back pain. My husband Karriem periodically suffers from lower back pain due to an old injury and that's why I set out to do some research on back pain remedies. Here's what I've discovered and am eager to share with you: Lower Back Pain CausesPain in the lower back could be the result of a number of reasons. A health care professional is the best one to diagnose the pain. However, you should still know the main causes of back pain which are Muscles Strains or Injury, Herniated Disks, Kidney Stones, An Illness like the Flu and even Pregnancy. Back Pain RemediesWhile back pain can be excruciating, there are several remedies at your disposal and you should try one or more until you find relief. In some cases, your doctor may opt for surgery (for example, if you have a ruptured disc). In many instances however, you may not require surgery. If you have had surgery, you may just need help recuperating. There are a number of ways to help alleviate your pain: * Medication -Is effective for pain relief but can have harmful side effects such as kidney and liver damage * Back exercises -Exercises help to improve the strength of the muscles that stabilize the spine which also improves the health of the back * Alternative Pain Relievers such as Magnetic Therapy Products. Some may be sceptical as to if magnetic therapy is effective but there are countless case studies that prove it is. In my own instance, I stumbled upon magnetic therapy after double foot surgery in November 2008. Therapeutic grade magnetics are very powerful and were effective at reducing my feet's swelling, tingling sensation and pain. You'll also find magnet back support pads to prevent injury. * Heating Pad Belts - Heat helps to relax the back reduce ridgid muscles and stiffness, thereby reducing muscle spasming. Because it's a belt, it stays securely wrapped in place. Just don't use it for extended periods of time. * Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils - Essential oils penetrate deep into the body. Many essential oils such as Lavender and Chamomille have anesthetic and anti-inflammatory properties * Acupuncture - Small needles are placed in specific points on the back and quick pain relief is often experienced. For the squeamish, this may not be a good choice, even though it's virtually painless. The above methods are given so that you have choices. Your specific situation and level of pain will determine which of these back pain remedies you should decide to use. |
