This often painful and debilitating disease can be recognized by a number of common symptoms
when coupled together, creating a syndrome. If you haver certain
recurring or lasting symptoms, you may have or be at risk of having
Fibromyalgia, a common form of rheumatic arthritis.
As
with arthritis in general, Fibromyalgia can be quite painful and there
are 10 common symptoms or signs that could indicate that you have the
disease. Do you frequently experience any of the following Fibromyalgia Warning Signs:
- Wide spread pain throughout your joints and/or muscles
- Numbness or tingling in your hands or feet
- Tender areas on your body
- Extreme fatigue
- Severe headaches
- Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
- Dry mouth
- Heat or cold sensitivity
- Poor circulation in the feet, legs or hands
- Feeling depressed or anxious
If you answered yes to suffering from more than two of the symptoms above, you may have Fibromyalgia Syndrome. Since Fibromyalgia can be misdiagnosed, the best person to diagnose the condition would be a specialist who regularly treats fibromyalgic patients.
However, not many people will go to the doctor seeking a diagnosis of
or a ruling out of fibromyalgia because if you don't know anyone who
has arthritis or you unaware of the symptoms, you may be totally
unaware of the possibility that you could have the disease.
Being
aware of the symptoms is half the battle. If you recognize that you
are suffering with any of the above mentioned Fibromyalgia symptoms,
see your primary doctor and request a referral to see a specialist. If
you have Fibromyalgia, you want to find out as soon as possible so that
you can begin treatment.
