3 Anxiety Busters - Anxiety Prevention Tips to Help You Function Better© Michelle Howard Smith - All Rights ReservedAnxiety is a real interruption of your life because it doesn't allow you to function at your best. It's really another "face" of fear; fear that you will not do your very best or fear of failure. Due to this overwhelming fear, you may be prone to anxiety attacks. Take comfort in knowing that you are not alone. An estimated 18% of the US population has anxiety or panic attacks. Some require the help of a professional but in any case, there are three practical things that I like to call anxiety busters to fight anxiety problems:Anxiety Prevention Tip #1 - Prepare in AdvanceFeeling anxious is often the result of being unprepared. If you haven't taken the time to adequately prepare for an upcoming meeting, test, event or presentation, there's a big chance you will experience feelings of anxiety.Adequately preparing for the upcoming events in your life will lessen your chances of feeling anxious. This is especially true if you are prone to panic attacks. Anxiety Prevention Tip #2 - Change Your AttitudeYou've probably heard the saying, "Your attitude determines your altitude." This is more than an old cliché. If you expect failure, you will more than likely experience it. Decide in advance that no matter what the outcome of any meeting, presentation, test or event, you will not see it as a failure. Even if things don't turn out as planned, purpose in advance that you will find something positive to focus on.When you perceive you've failed, change your attitude and look at the results as an opportunity for future improvement. This will greatly help reduce your anxiety as well as your stress levels. Anxiety Prevention Tip #3 - Actively Practice RelaxationWhile the first two anxiety busters are more ways to prevent anxiety from occurring, practicing relaxation techniques helps you to shut down an anxiety attack. You are better able to reduce and even eliminate anxiety by actively encouraging your body to relax.Don't allow anxiety (fear) to rule your life. The anxiety busters I just shared will help to prevent or combat anxiety head on. Prepare, change your attitude and practice relaxation to fight off anxiety. Further Recommended Reading: |
